Client Brief
York Productions approached Thunder Gaming to produce and broadcast a live gaming event across multiple streaming channels showcasing Fireball Whiskey and celebrity gamers.
Event
Runtime: 2.5 hours
Set in Thunder's dedicated Esports Arena, ten of today's biggest Call of Duty streamers broke into two teams to compete in a series of intensifying CoD matches. Fireball custom designed two unique 4D gaming chairs for the event, anointed “Dragon’s Thrones,” and the players had to take a shot of Fireball Whiskey before rotating onto the special seat (21+ event). The chairs were created to physically react to gameplay actions and elicited fun
reactions from the competitors throughout the 2.5 hour live show. Hashtags #FireballDragonsThrone and #IgniteTheNite were used to share updates and event related posts on social media.
Broadcast
The broadcast utilized a total of 7 cameras (2 POV Lipstick Cams, 2 Stage Cams, 2 locked off team reaction cams, 1 center stage wide cam, and 1 JIB) connected to our HD Mobile Broadcast Unit. Audio was tracked in-house and in-game with COMMs and a separate audio line was set up for the Host Voice. Thunder’s gaming tournament experience, broadcasting expertise, and audience knowledge combined to achieve a successful broadcast for the Client.
Thunder Studios has been remarkable in the service that they provided, the insight into the gaming industry, the creative output,” said Khari Streeter, creative director for the tournament. “The collaboration, the cooperation, has been as top-notch as I’ve ever experienced in the business— 30 years as a creative director. On our set, your commitment to diversity was tangible, visible, and out right inspiring. Can't wait to come back”
Creative Development
Thunder Gaming accepted the challenge of executing a livestream gaming event for York Productions on behalf of their client Fireball Whisky with less than 20 days lead time. Thunder’s turnkey expertise, in-house resources, and dedicated Esports Arena made this a successful Client activation. The project required the
development of a full Run of Show, graphics package design and implementation, set design and build, lighting logistics, crewing and equipment, and solving the
complexities of the tournament concept with a unique ruleset which required professional Call of Duty players to rotate on the Fireball Whiskey Dragon’s Throne.
Thunder broadcasting the stream to SYMFUHNY’s Twitch channel (3.4M followers), landed a homepage feature on Twitch, and distributed the livestream to all 10 celebrity player channels.
